You probably will not see this unless your E-mail gets notification. Several years later though, the refurbished version of this put out today is fabulous. Your intelligence level is nothing short of brilliance. Its important that you gained the perspective that you did at such a young age from befriending Cynthia. Not many people can see the whole picture when it comes to these types of issues. Let alone apprehending such overwhelming subject matter & knowing how to deal with it. Even some wise adults cannot grasp it. Im sure you already know this, but you did more than all you could in terms of trying to help your friend. Whether it was expressed back to you or not. I guarantee it made a remarkable impact on her. Regardless of if she's chose to do the same thing to this day, or made a full 180. You made change. Honestly speaking, as a recovering addict myself. I can relate to your comic strip to a degree because I put myself through a lot of shit around that same age in my life. Maybe I'll get around to telling you my story someday if it comes up. I'm not going to bother sharing my life story here because you may not ever read this comment for one, and two I don't trust the internet often. What I will say though, is to this present day I've made a full 180 turn on my life personally, & I'm keeping on track with it. I hope the best for your friend wherever she may be. I also agree with your statement in which you say legal institutions are a sham. It didn't take me long to realize that. Institutes/rehabs were NOT a major contributing factor to my present days of sobriety. Don't get me wrong. Those places DO help some people in need & change them for the better, but for some & count me as one of them, it only made matters worse and increased the depression I was dealing with. Just was not for me, to be short. The thing about rehabilitation is you can have all the people you feel you need for comfort(&that surely helps a lot of ways internally without a doubt), but it will not make the decisions any easier if you are trying to change and move forward. Only ones mind has the power to effectively make their own decisions, & better themselves if they have to. Which is what I figured out eventually after a long struggle. loved ones are only there to support how you want to change, & hope its for the better of yourself as well. They can't hold your hand and walk you through it. Especially like in your case, where you had never been previously exposed 1st hand to such dark forces of the universe. This is a great story though. Very real & quite possibly, I won't speak for you i don't know; but seems like one of the many things that shaped you into the bright & open minded person that you are to this day. I give you my respect for that Marissa.
